Burt Ward played Robin to Adam West’s Batman in the 1960’s television series of Batman. The sexy robin costumes are the female version of the original Robin costume which consisted of a red tunic, green pants and a yellow cape. However, I don’t think that Robin ever looked like this.

Interestingly, the character of Robin was conceived in order to attract young readers to DC comics. Robin started out as Dick Grayson back in 1940 and then became Jason Todd in 1983. Then in 1991 Robin became Tim Drake until he was forced to retire as Batman’s sidekick. The fourth incarnation of Batman was an already established DC Comics character called Stephanie Brown who became the first female Robin. Unfortunately, DC Comics killed her off in 2004 and the Tim Drake character resumed his previous role as the Boy Wonder.
Stephanie Brown was in fact Tim Drake’s girlfriend and had previously been known as the Spoiler. She actually volunteered to take over the role of Robin when Tim stepped down. Unfortunately, Batman fired the Girl Wonder for not obeying his orders exactly. Trying to prove her worth to Batman, she accidentally set off a gang war in Gotham and was captured and tortured. She was said to have died from her injuries, but it was later revealed that her death was faked in order to protect her. She then became Batgirl.
